tonight is The relationship between personal consciousness and God. I've always
been intrigued by questions like, "Am I my own consciousness, or am I the
dream of a higher being?" or "Is

my own moment of death?"

LFST RB3000: Then who is running everything
while I'm dreaming? Does everyone somehow share the same consciousness at some
level? Is that what God is?

LFST RB3000: Before we begin the formal
session, are there any questions or comments about the class in general, or
about these subjects?

LFST RB3000: What I put out in these
classes is not "facts" and maybe not even "knowledge", but
rather, paradigms and viewpoints of mystical and esoteric lineages.

LFST RB3000: All right, then -- let us
begin

LFST RB3000: ..............................................................

LFST RB3000: First let's look at the
states of consciousness that we cycle through, every day. Then we'll be able to ask, "Are these
all the states and perceptions that I am capable of, or is there something
hidden from me that I can attain? Am I
breaking some rule or law by attempting to do this?"

LFST RB3000: Most of us seem to subcribe
to the four states of Dreamless sleep, REM dreams, "waking
consciousness," and hypnotic trances.
Maybe some people ascribe a state of consciousness to a "soul"
that has left its "body" at the "time" of
"death."

LFST RB3000: Some people have lucid
dreams, which can actually seem much more awake than ordinary
consciousness. And some people have
religious vision and visitations of angels, while others go mad with voices in
their heads or deliria of snakes and spiders, ghosts and bogeymen, secret
agents and demons, etc.

LFST RB3000: Do these religious or
nightmare states count as separate levels of consciousness, or only as
"temporary aberrations"? What
about someone who stays up for five nights in a row and produces works of
genius, and then shoots themself? Shall
we continue to call all those as merely aberrations of "waking"
state?

LFST RB3000: In esoteric literature, we
find a completely different breakdown of the levels of consciousness which run
us. It is quite simple, yet so
different from our tribal mythology that it even seems ridiculous to some people,
or "obviously erroneous."

LFST RB3000: In such a system, our
"waking consciousness" (complete with "free will" and
"self-awareness") becomes instead the worst kind of sleep, a state in
which we are constantly justifying our faults, in which we are constantly dreaming
up every possible paranoid delusion and violent projection upon the population
of the dream.

LFST RB3000: But the ancient teachings say
that we really do have an intellect, as a particular mind with its own separate
functions, which is available (but mostly unused) in ordinary people. What we mostly have instead, is an extremely
crude, artificial apparatus which does nothing but drop everything we come
across into one of our preset bins or categories, and label it so that we can
then say that we "know" it.
But those are not thoughts, nor is it a function of the real intellect.

LFST RB3000: How many times do we try to
explain an experience of our own to someone, and have them instantly say,
"Oh, I know about that ..." or "What you're saying is ... <something
completely unrelated>", and then watch people automatically nodding
their heads in "agreement" because that is their mechanical
entrainment, despite "knowing" that the person doesn't know what
they're talking about.

LFST RB3000: Then they classify the
emotions as a mind that is separate from the intellect, and whose much greater
finesse and speed allow well tempered people to make amazing degrees of
discernment, like a clairvoyant or a tea-master or a fine artist can.

LFST RB3000: The reason that we usually do
not have access to these fine energies and discernments was the subject of the
last two classes, and that is that we have completely perverted the emotional
functions with our sleep, our self-pity, our projections, and our incessant
internal chatter about "injustice", "pain",
"unfairness", "honor", "concern",
"gottas", expectations, worry and regrets.

LFST RB3000: It turns out that NONE of the
above are members or functions of the emotional mind in the way that I am speaking,
but aberrations again.

proper emotional values, but we never made it clear what we would find that we
have in the Emotional Center once all those aberrations have been cleaned
out. We hardly have words for the
authentic emotions available to us, because we have lived so long accepting
pain, dysfunction and numbness as our way of life.

LFST RB3000: Actually, it is easy enough
to discover what we've been missing just by watching the innocent play of small
children -- delight in simple things, authentic caring, many different shades
and impulses of love and affection, unadulterated sadness. These authentic feelings are characterized
by an immediacy and directness that our "adult" emotions lack -- they
require no psychotherapy, and they change rapidly.

before you gain control over your thoughts and feelings, don't you first
have to define what you are, what your goals for your life are?
DCizunas: So much of this sounds like the therapy many
marriage counselors are using....to make a couple realize their mate's point of
view.
JacobJG: some Masters refer to it as not staying
committed to higher priority commitments

my opinion -- but observe and really discover who I am from direct experience,

observe and transmute.

that make up the universe, we get to see the result of what our choices are.

more acceptance of mystical in"normal" lives

other *minds* of the ordinary "apparatus."

LFST RB3000: The minds of the "lower
story", which corresponds with the first 3 or 4 chakras (depending on how
you count them), are given as the instinctive, the moving and the sexual
centers. This is right out of "In
Search of the Miraculous", which is on your reading list. For this class we're skipping the instictive
center because there is not much we can do with it right now yet here.

LFST RB3000: The Moving Center, which
operates entirely on repetition and imitation, is a vital instrument of any
discipline, since it allows us to set up new habits and programs which can
eventually over-ride our old, self-destructive habits. This center is able to take instruction from
mantras, mudras, asanas, prostrations, sundance, vision quests, and daily
practices of all kinds.

LFST RB3000: Once a particular practice
has been done intentionally for a sufficient period of time, it can then be
done with no thought whatsoever. This
is what allows us to dance, play sports or musical instruments, drive a car,
touch-type a letter, or any other activity that requires motor skills and
realtime coordination.

LFST RB3000: The second we think about
what we are doing, we lose our coordination -- isn't this what you find? As I type this, I am thinking only of what I
wish to tell you, not which muscle of which finger I should extend or contract
in order to strike a key.

LFST RB3000: So the Moving Center is the
receptory in which we can store each discipline and most of the alarms that we
need for anticipating the triggers of our habitual reactions, in the ways that
we discussed in the previous two classes.

LFST RB3000: We enter a situation in which
we would "normally" become defensive, for example, but instead, as
soon as the trigger becomes activated, a replacement program is activated --
for example, to meet the situation with humor, compassion and service. And then, of course, everything changes for
the better.

LFST RB3000: Much trickier to talk about
is the Sexual Center, for obvious reasons, and for some quite subtle reasons.
In tonight's class we won't be thinking about titillation and mating, but we
will examine the power of sexual energy and its alchemic octaves, and how
unconsciously and universally we pervert these energies into seduction,
violence, cruelty and obsessions from personal to racial and nationalistic
levels.

except for some practitioners of tantra (Buddhist disciplines) and a few who
have experienced ecstatic incorporation without going mad, none of us have
truly experienced authentic sexual energy directly. I must point out that this does not necessarily refer to union between
people, but to the experience within an individual.

alchemic terms) that it is only the rightful energy of the sexual center that
can bridge the chasm between the "physical" ego-self (the whole of which
is referred to as "8th chakra") and the 9th-chakra (immortal) Astral
Self, which is the vehicle of the Higher Emotional center.

at the same speed, density and subtlety, albeit with different characteristics. It often happens that a sannyasin or yogi
who has been celibate for many years is found to exude an intense sexual field
that arouses shakti or visions in people who come near them.

our final segment of tonight's lesson, we're going to consider the Mind-Centers
of the Transcendental Self, outside of what we normally consider to be our
"body".

LFST RB3000: The first of the
transpersonal centers that we should talk about is the Higher Emotional center,
associated with the astral body and the 9th chakra, which is
"outside" of the "physical body".

LFST RB3000: There are reasons that the
word "emotional" is included in the name, but there is nothing in the
functions and vibrations of this center that resemble anything that we are
accustomed to calling emotions or feelings.
HOST
LFST RB3000: Instead, it is more like
ecstatic levels of discernment, direct (telepathic, empathic) knowledge of
experience-in-the-Moment-without-words, non-individuated awareness of the
voluptuous, exquisite, breath-taking, fluid-like nectar-of-mutual-existence
which is beingness-outside-of-time, overlapping worlds of nouminous sensation,
in sensual ranges for which we have no physical representations.

LFST RB3000: Words like "eternal
bliss", "ecstatic union" and "nirvana" prove quite
flat and understated when one actually experiences this level of Mind.

LFST RB3000: FINALLY, the mind of the 10th
chakra and the Causal Body is often called "the Higher Mental center"
or "the Transcendental Intellect", although it bears no resemblance
to what we mortals regard as our "intellect".
HOST
LFST RB3000: At the level of this Mind,
any and every impulse of intent is instantaneously elaborated down the ray of
creation, complete with all requisite laws, histories, populations,
interactions -- complete "has-always-been" manifestation, for only as
long as that particular impulse travels.

LFST RB3000: It is as if worlds and
universes come into being full-fledged, manifest, interact, carry out all their
dramas, beauties and horrors, and then snuff out,
"never-have-been-at-all" in the same moment. This actually jibes with modern physics, in
terms of how "particles" of "matter" sneak their existences
in the instant allowed by the uncertainty principle.

LFST RB3000: I apologize if the above
makes little "sense", but please understand that the possibilities
that are described by esoteric mystical tradition (including the roots of all
religions) are all entirely outside of the range of ordinary senses and
cognitions.

LFST RB3000: But the reason that these
traditions have persisted throughout history, even if they have degenerated into
empty rituals and wars over dogma, is that here and there, now and then, some
people get glimpses of what is possible for us.

LFST RB3000: True, many such people go mad
and lead mass suicides or other acts of violence because they are too small inside,
too degenerate and hardened, but others have left behind for us writings and
other works of vaulting inspiration containing gifts of supernatural
power. Every religion and mythology
abounds with stories of such people and their gifts, and I have always insisted
that there must be something to them beyond wishful thinking and fantasy.

LFST RB3000: First of all, because the
myths and scriptures are astonishingly consistent with each other and, second,
because I found that I was able to verify some of them for myself. As time went on, I found that I could verify
more and more, and also identify in them what was probably fantasy or
prejudice.
