way we are using the word "ecstatic

accompanied by transformation of

which the supernatural and the Miraculous

witnessed and experienced directly.

friends, let's begin tonight's class: "The
RBCF 3000: discernment
and application of love, gratitude and
RBCF 3000: forgiveness
as the alchemic base."
I suppose you

wondering why I went out of my way to make
RBCF 3000: some
simple emotions sound so complicated, so
RBCF 3000: lemme
'splain it to youse in plain English.
RBCF 3000: .
RBCF 3000: In the
first place, I am not even referring to anything
RBCF 3000: that is
commonly understood as "emotions" or
RBCF 3000: sentiments.
RBCF 3000: By
"love" I am not speaking of attachment or
RBCF 3000: affection;
by "gratitude" I do not mean merely
RBCF 3000: "appreciatiativeness"
or sense of indebtedness; and
RBCF 3000: certainly
"forgiveness" is not lip-service while stuffing
RBCF 3000: down our
grudges and maintaining that we are still
RBCF 3000: "right"
and those others are still "wrong."
RBCF 3000: .
RBCF 3000: But before
we tackle what those words might mean
RBCF 3000: instead,
let us first take a look at the expression, "the
RBCF 3000: alchemic
base."
RBCF 3000: The whole
idea of alchemy has come down to us as
RBCF 3000: some sort
of primitive pseudo-chemistry, perhaps
RBCF 3000: closer to
the practice of witch-doctors, based on
RBCF 3000: unfounded
superstitions. The main notion that most
RBCF 3000: people
have about it is something about changing lead
RBCF 3000: into gold.
RBCF 3000: However,
in esoteric mysticism, the transformation of
RBCF 3000: lead into
gold is intended as a metaphor for a truly
RBCF 3000: organic
process, and it explains many of the obscure
RBCF 3000: passages
in the Bible, in the Zohar, in the Vedas, in
RBCF 3000: the Tao
te-Ch'ing and in very many mythological
RBCF 3000: stories.

is that most of the depictions of miracles in
RBCF 3000: the Bible,
and the fabled journeys of Sinbad, Ulysses,

Orphaeus and other mythological

were metaphors for the inner journey to
RBCF 3000: discover
our true nature and powers, and the
RBCF 3000: transformations
that are required of us to accomplish

objects to be found in these stories can be holy
RBCF 3000: grails or
golden fleeces or pots o' gold at the end o' the
RBCF 3000: rainbow;
Shangri-la, El Dorado, the fountain of youth,

Solomon's goldmines, Buddha's necklace, the
RBCF 3000: Keys of
Enoch, even the Land of Oz or the rabbit hole
RBCF 3000: of Alice
in Wonderland.

RBCF 3000: According
to the teachings, these places and things
RBCF 3000: were never
intended to be taken literally, not as
RBCF 3000: someplace
you can go to, or something you can find
RBCF 3000: there and
just take home with you.
RBCF 3000: In many
cases, the hero dies as a mortal and is
RBCF 3000: brought
back to life in a divine or semi-divine form.
RBCF 3000: .
RBCF 3000: Usually
the hero is told to be careful about something
RBCF 3000: ("Don't
open the box", "Don't look back", "Cover your
RBCF 3000: eyes, plug
your ears", "Prepare for a flood or a
RBCF 3000: tempest",
"Do not speak to anyone", "Keep your head
RBCF 3000: down",
etc.),
RBCF 3000: but often
the hero disregards the advice, or is tempted
RBCF 3000: by some
Master of Illusion, or is thwarted by a
RBCF 3000: guardian
or a daemon, and so either dies or becomes
RBCF 3000: lost in a
maze or gets changed into a hawk, or
RBCF 3000: something
like that.
RBCF 3000: .
RBCF 3000: But
supposedly there is no *external* danger, no
RBCF 3000: "master
of illusion" outside of our own mind, no "maze
RBCF 3000: of
desolation" or fire-swamp or Dungeon of Despair
RBCF 3000: outside of
our own internal fabrication.
RBCF 3000: Also, the
frogs, hawks and unicorns that we get
RBCF 3000: changed
into are not just fantasy, but their reality is
RBCF 3000: not in the
ordinary hum-drum we have consoled
RBCF 3000: ourselves
to as where we 'bide our time till the clock
RBCF 3000: runs out
for us.
RBCF 3000: .
RBCF 3000: Finally,
according to esoteric teachings, all that gold
RBCF 3000: and all
those secrets that so many mythic heroes
RBCF 3000: have lost
their lives in struggling to obtain, is in no
RBCF 3000: way
referring to a shiny metal that is found in the
RBCF 3000: ground,
nor is Buddha's necklace made up of oyster
RBCF 3000: pearls.

allusions really *are* talking about?

the second half of the evolutionary process--

each of us, in the single lifetime that we have available for doing this.

"form of man") and the amount and quality of

energy that we can conduct at any given time.

for the express purpose of gradually

moment, initiates particular alchemic

absolution, prayer, meditation, humility and

renunciations, etc., are actually just a

setting up of the alchemist's "laboratory."

effects of the alchemy can actually take place

only years of practice, so that the adherants

receive visions and revelations, witness

project astrally, bend spoons or exhibit

powers or perform healings, but without
RBCF 3000: permanence
nor exact knowledge of what is really

to them or through them.
